Now in its third year of trading, Winnersh-based Elec n Dec Property Services recently participated in Business Link’s popular small business review – a free service aimed at helping small businesses take stock of their progress and plan ahead for future growth.
Simon Richards launched Elec n Dec Property Services 3 years ago following 15 years experience working within the IT industry. The company offers a wide range of general property maintenance services, both internal and external, from small repair jobs through to major renovations. Simon is also an independent distributor for Utility Warehouse, a business which ideally complements Elec n Dec.
Simon is a fully qualified electrician (complying with the latest wiring and building Part P regulations) as well as being a painter and decorator. He works with a number of highly skilled subcontractors for other work such as plastering, carpentry, tiling, and plumbing.
The business has grown steadily since the launch and Simon felt the time was right to seek some expert advice on how to move forward. A colleague from his local Business Referral Exchange recommended the free business review service from Business Link.
Simon met with Business Link adviser Zahir Haque and was very impressed with the level of understanding and advice he received. ‘Zahir was an excellent listener and picked up on the relevant issues extremely quickly’ says Simon, ‘the business review certainly helped focus my mind on the key aspects of running a business’.
Of particular note was the advice Simon received regarding cash flow management and he has since successfully implemented many of the suggestions highlighted by the small business review.
